With the Artura, McLaren takes a departure from the twin-turbocharged V8 formula for the first time since 2011. It is the first supercar from McLaren to come with a hybrid powertrain. Additionally, the Artura is the first car to be built on McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture.

Under the Hood

Behind the driver’s seat is an all-new twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6 engine, akin to those used in their cutting-edge Formula 1 cars. On its own, the engine produces an impressive 577 bhp. However, when paired with the aforementioned hybrid powertrain, the horsepower goes up to 671 bhp along with 531 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed Tri-Clutch transmission with an electronic differential - a first for McLaren, takes care of delivering all that performance to the rear wheels.

Thanks in part to its hybrid powertrain, the Artura also holds the title of being the most fuel-efficient McLaren supercar ever made. On top of getting 50+ miles per gallon, this futuristic supercar can travel 19 miles (31km) on pure electric power as well.

The chassis hasn't been forgotten amongst all the powertrain upgrades. All elements have been engineered to make the Artura one of the best-handling supercars on the road. The updated electro-hydraulic steering is complemented by new rear suspension components along with Proactive Damping Control. The Artura’s lightweight body is made from carbon fibre and super-formed aluminium panels. The body is perfectly proportioned and has all the eye-catching features you would expect from a modern supercar, including McLaren’s signature butterfly doors and hammerhead lines.

Faster Than the Competition

On top of improving efficiency, the innovative powertrain gives this supercar several performance benefits over its rivals too. The Artura completes the 0 - 60 mph dash in just 2.6 seconds and would go on to reach a top speed of 205 mph if you put your pedal to the metal. Furthermore, the 7.4 kWh battery pack allows the Artura to have the sharpest throttle response ever seen on a McLaren.
